We had a very successful 6-month Planning Meeting recently with about twenty boys in attendance.  There are lots of great campouts planned in the coming months.  Check out the calendar for details.

One of the tasks we accomplished at the meeting was to select a summer camp for 2012.  Chris F presented to the group his research of possible camps.  After  much discussion, the group elected to go to Camp Cedars.  The camp is located in the hilly woodlands along the South Platte River near Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska.  We went there five years ago and it was a great camp.  They have the best trained staff of any camp I have seen.  The first year scout program, called Kit Fox is outstanding.  They have a great climbing and COPE program and lots of merit badges.  The list of great features goes on.

Check out the Camp Cedars Guide (2011 edition) for more details.

We all had an awesome time at summer camp and for all of you that didn’t go you missed out on a great time. Sorrowfully you will not be able to do on of the best activities next years which was metal working. It was lots of fun but hopefully they will still have some cool stuff next year.

Here is a 90 second video of some Troop 386 scouts “mountainboarding” at Camp Geiger in Missouri this week.

If you’re a parent or scout 13 years or older, be sure to join our Facebook group so you can see all the photos Dr Davey uploaded this week from camp!

Our scouts headed off bright and early this morning for Camp Geiger in Missouri! (Click the photo below for a larger version.)

Dr Davey is going to be uploading photos from camp this year, and most likely will be posting them to our Troop Facebook Group. If you haven’t joined it yet, go ahead and request to join so you can see the photos! I’ll post updates here if the summer camp photos end up going elsewhere, like to Flickr.

All our photos from summer camp 2010 at Camp Alexander, in Colorado, remain online in this Flickr collection.
